At a time of widespread desire to re-implant traditional skills at local levels, we paradoxically observe the disappearance of many of them. This phenomenon can be attributed to a lack of interest, at times for the material, at other times for the production process or for the particular craft trade, explained by changing habits and lifestyles but also by the lack of transmission of knowledge or training.

At the heart of these challenges, design can certainly play a role in promoting techniques, materials, applications… Through its openness to the world, it represents a real asset for questioning the evolution of craft professions and encouraging the emergence of new ideas, new applications or even new commercial and creative strategies.

Eliciting this fruitful dialogue between design and craftsmanship, this is the objective of the ‘Duos en Résonances’ project, designed to encourage experimentation around rare craft skills and strengthen the sharing of experience between creative professions.

Following a call for applications, craft artists and designers were invited to meet, get acquainted and develop common projects. This exhibition presents the results of the research carried out by the five craft artist-designer pairs selected in 2022.

At the heart of the creative process, collaborative, experimental approaches stimulate an openness to new perspectives.
